FOSSIL Q DESIGN YOUR DIAL- SOCIAL INTEGRATION

The Fossil Q app started as a utility to switch, save and edit the watchface on your display smart watch, but grew to so much more. Social sharing features meant social media integration at several touchpoints. Users can pull their instagram photos and implement them as backgrounds in their watchface styles as well as share their creations back out to their network. The app integrates seamlessly with the native picker provided by the Android platform while using Fossil Q established style guides.

One of the most challenging features was the process for authentication. We knew that social sharing should work instantly from the smartwatch itself so that users could constantly share their creations to create a community around smartwatch dial designs. These features should be as easy to share as possible. What we arrived at is a phone-side authentication step, so that if a user authenticates a social media platform once, they will never have to do it again.
